Coin Street Community Builders, London

Transition Pathways to a Low Carbon Economy is a multi-partner collaboration funded by E.ON UK and EPSRC. It is an interdisciplinary Consortium with internationally recognised expertise in the engineering sciences and in policy/social analyses of the energy sector. The Consortium has addressed the dynamics of ‘Transition Pathways to a Low Carbon Economy’, with an electricity focus, under 3 broad themes:

  1. Transitions, scenarios and historical analysis;
  2. Technical and social analysis of supply-side, demand-side and infrastructure networks;
  3. Whole Systems Appraisal and Joint Working, Integration and Learning.

The high profile event aims to disseminate research from the Transition Pathways project via oral presentations and discussion sessions. The event will include invited speakers from industry and academia, including: Dr Jill Lees and Andy Boston (E.ON), Prof Geoffrey Hammond (Bath), Prof Peter Pearson (Cardiff), Prof Frank Geels (Sussex) and Prof Geert Verbong (Eindhoven University of Technology).

There will also be a forum for stakeholders from within industry, academia and the government to discuss implications for transitions to a low carbon economy. This will be via a Panel Session chaired by representatives from DECC (Dr Jan Ole Kiso), Ofgem (Sarah Samuel) and the Committee on Climate Change (Mike Thompson).

The Conference will be taking place at Coin Street, a venue owned and managed by Coin Street Community Builders, Southbank, London (http://www.coinstreet.org/), on Wednesday 18th April 2012.
